Appeal after elderly man seriously injured in Ingleby Cross collision - North Yorkshire Police (press release)

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision between a car and a mini-bus on the A172 at Ingleby Cross in the Stokesley area.


101 - Small

The crash happened at around 7.40pm on Saturday 1 March 2014 at the cross roads of the A172 and the road leading out of Ingleby Cross.


A red Hyundai Getz which was travelling out of the village of Ingleby Cross, collided with a white mini-bus which was travelling along the A172 towards Stokesley.


The driver of the Hyundai, a man in his sixties from Essex and two passengers including a woman in her fifties, also from Essex, and a 90-year-old man, were all taken to James Cook Hospital.


The driver and woman passenger were released after treatment, however, the 90-year-old man remains in hospital with serious injuries.


Two 15-year-old boys from Middlesbrough who were travelling in the mini-bus were treated for whiplash. The driver of the mini-bus, who is from the Saltburn area, and around 20 other passengers on the bus were physically uninjured but shaken up by the collision.


Police area appealing for witnesses to the collision and to anyone who saw either of the two vehicles prior to the crash to contact them.
