Did he compare them to loofahs? Did he liken their noses to pumice stones? Did he go so far as to call them a shammy? Nay, he really went for it and said they were toilet brushes. You know, he may have a point.
According to The Sun, the Homelands actor was overheard commenting on Yorkies at Crufts this year to dog enthusiast Louise Harris. Seemingly Lewis is on the hunt for a dog - particularly a spaniel or a pug. When Louise broached the subject of Yorkshire Terriers, he scoffed: "Yorkies? No. Stick up their bum, use them for a toilet brush.”
Speaking with The Sun, Louise said: "I was stunned. It’s not what you expect to hear from a dog lover at Crufts", while a Peta spokesperson added: "Yorkies have enriched people’s lives at least as much as Homeland."The Yorkshire Terrier Society simply barked it was a “total insult”.
The real horror for Louise was the fact that this exchange took place by the Yorkie stall at the Birmingham NEC... It must have rocked her into a state of stasis until now; Crufts happened weeks ago...
It was a pretty insensitive thing to say while languishing in the holy grail of dogs. I'm surprised he didn't get shot on the spot. Seriously, Crufts frequenters really love dogs on a special level...
