Northamptonshire were bowled out for 94 to concede a first-innings lead of 365 to Yorkshire on day two at Headingley.
Jack Brooks claimed 5-36 and his new-ball partner Ryan Sidebottom 4-16 as newly-promoted Northants were dismissed in 30 overs.
No 3 Matthew Spriegel played a lone hand for the visitors, finishing 29 not out from 78 balls.
Yorkshire had earlier declared their first innings on 459-9, Gary Ballance turning his overnight 117 into 174 before he became the eighth lbw victim of the innings when Andrew Hall (4-103) trapped him in front.

Seam bowlers were also on top at Chester-le-Street, where 17 wickets went down on day two between defending champions Durham and Somerset.
Somerset went from 7-0 at the start of day two to 185 all out in the afternoon to trail by 123 on first innings.
Graham Onions finished with 4-65 and fellow seamer Chris Rushworth 4-52, while Peter Trego's 41-ball 48 was the top score of an innings lasting 50.1 overs in total.
But all-rounder Trego then picked up 3-46 as Durham slipped to 152-7 in their second innings at stumps, a lead of 275.
More runs for Bell
Peter Moores got an up close view of Ian Bell's qualities as Warwickshire earned a first-innings lead in Moores' final match in charge of Lancashire before he becomes England coach for the second time.
Bell, who made 189 not out against Sussex last week, contributed a fluent 75 to Warwickshire's 316-9, a first-innings advantage of 69.
He built on the earlier good work of openers Varun Chopra (52) and William Porterfield (77) before Lancashire's bowlers hit back in the evening session.
Tom Smith picked up 4-67 but England international James Anderson had a frustrating day and finished with figures of 0-82 from 25 overs.
