A man has been left seriously injured after he was attacked by a venomous snake in Yorkshire.
The 44-year-old victim, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was bitten three times by an adder in North Yorkshire's Dalby Forest.
He was treated at the scene - the Go Ape forest adventure park - by a rapid response medic and an off-duty paramedic from the South East Coast Ambulance Service who was there on holiday.
He then received further treatment from a trauma team led by a doctor.
The victim was stabilised before being flown by the Great North Air Ambulance Service to Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The snake was thought to be a common European adder, or vipera berus - Britain's only venomous snake - which grows to around 80cm (31in).
The adder is relatively common in the UK and is known to live in a number of forests across Yorkshire.
It is not thought to be particularly dangerous or aggressive and usually bites only when disturbed suddenly.
The snake usually eats small mammals, such as mice, voles and shrews.
