The award can only be won once in a career and is restricted to players aged under 23. He became the fourth Yorkshire player in the last seven seasons to win the award, underlining the talent produced in recent years by the county.




Lyth pushed himself firmly in the England frame with his best season in county cricket to become the third winner of the county player of the year award, made in conjunction with William Hill. He scored 1,489 championship runs, including six centuries, at 67.68.




David Lloyd received the Peter Smith award for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of cricket following a lifetime involvement in the game where his career as a Lancashire batsman, England opener, umpire, Lancashire and England coach and, currently, a television broadcaster and newspaper columnist.
